Honor Band (Level 3)

Directed by Mrs. Danette Conard. Assisted by Mr. Delgado and Mr. Hoffmann. The MVMS Honor Band is the top performing ensemble on campus. It is considered our “varsity” ensemble. The Honor Band has received consecutive UIL Sweepstakes Awards since 2016.


Symphonic Band (Level 2)

Directed by Mr. Jared Delgado. Assisted by Mrs. Conard and Mr. Hoffmann The MVMS Symphonic Band is our second performing ensemble. Its membership includes both 7th and 8th grade band members who are still developing individual musical and ensemble skills.


Beginning Band (Level 1)

Directed byMrs. Conard, Mr. Delgado, and Mr. Hoffmann. The MVMS Beginning Band is our entry level student ensemble. Beginning Band students will mostly participate in homogeneous classroom settings. Students will learn how to read music, play their instrument, and develop their physical coordination and inner pulse.


Percussion Ensemble

Directed by Mr. Caleb Hoffmann. The MVMS Percussion Ensemble is a seasonal performing ensemble. The percussion ensemble includes ALL MVMS Percussion students. Percussion ensemble students will learn literature specific to their instrument and will perform at various concerts and community events throughout the year.


Jazz Band - Hawk Jazz (8th Graders Only)

Directed by Mr. Jared Delgado. The MVMS Jazz Band is an elective open to 8th grade students who are also members in either the Symphonic or Honor Band. Members will be expected to attend performances and Jazz Festivals. Jazz Band members must go through an approval process for enrollment through the band director.

Our Staff

Mrs. Danette Conard is entering her 23rd year teaching band. She graduated Valedictorian of Hitchcock High School and was a summa cum laude graduate of Texas State University. She holds a Bachelors of Music degree with lifetime teaching certification in the state of Texas. While director at First Baptist Academy in Universal City, her bands were twice named TAPPS State Champions and twice state runner-up. While at Blanco MS, her band placed 9th in TX in the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series and received consecutive UIL Sweepstakes awards. She is the principal flutist of the San Antonio Wind Symphony where she also serves on the Board of Director as Secretary. Mrs. Conard is a member of TMEA, ATSSB, TBA, TMAA, Austin Flute Society, and several other professional organizations. She and her husband, Bryce, are VW/Porsche enthusiasts and have a huge collection of Volkswagen toys and classic VWs. She is excited to serve as Fine Arts Department Chair and Head Middle School Band Director at MVMS this year.

We welcome Mr. Jared Delgado as the newest member of our band staff this year. He is a UTSA graduate and joins us from Thomas Jefferson HS in San Antonio, where he just finishedhis fifth year of teaching. Along with being a band director, he is also the Associate Conductor of the San Antonio Community Wind Ensemble. He spent two summers marching with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corp. Mr. Delgado loves gaming, spending time with his friends and family, and going to the gym.

Mr. Hoffmann is a graduate of New Braunfels High School and Texas Lutheran University. In high school, he studied music with Brad Arnold, Beth Bronk, Randy Leifeste and Ed Gonzales. After high school, he attended TLU and continued his studies in music and earned his Bachelors of Music. His past teaching appointments have been at LaVernia HS and Brennan HS. He performs with several other Comal ISD teachers in the Pivo and Polka band. He currently resides in New Braunfels with his wife and daughter.
